New NDCs

Updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) will need to be ambitious and lay out a path for long-term decarbonization.

2030 Goals

  • Leave the next round of NDC updates with a sense of global ambition, the majority of countries making considerable and concrete advancements in their ambition.
  • Provide specific attention to adaptation and resilience in this context.

Status

Moderate progress

  • Translating the first Global Stocktake (GST) into strengthened NDCs requires high-level political ownership, integration with national sustainable development plans, and a balance between ambition and investment readiness.
  • Countries must submit updated, ambitious NDCs aligning with GST outcomes to demonstrate stronger climate commitments backed by concrete implementation strategies.
